Title searches involve researching records at various public offices to uncover liens, judgments, mortgages and other documents that may affect a specific piece of property.
They are performed at the request of those involved in purchasing and selling real properties, as well as by parties lending money against real property.
Such parties may include:
- Banks and financial institutions
- Individual homeowners
- Real estate investors
With a title search completed, an abstract of title can be created or updated. See following page Abstract of Title.
